This project, located in California, involved landscaping a large property in a style that blends Mediterranean ambiance with Japanese influences.
We designed a spacious lawn in front of the house, providing direct access to the garden from all the main rooms. Large deciduous trees were planted near the house to offer cooling shade during the hot summer months.
A Japanese-style garden was created as a private retreat around the master bedroom. A traditional Japanese fountain, called a tsukubai, adds the charm of flowing water. An authentic 19th-century stone lantern from Kyoto completes the setting, serving as a focal point visible from inside the house.
This small garden offers a peaceful space for relaxation, allowing one to connect with and listen to nature.
The area harmoniously connects with the main garden through the use of a shared palette of Mediterranean plants. An olive grove, a fruit orchard, and a newly created vegetable garden complete the landscaping of this Californian property.
