A Belgian homeowner, who has been living on the French Riviera for many years, contacted us to design a natural garden around her newly built, eco-friendly passive-energy home. Her wish was to create an outdoor layout that would blend naturally with the architecture of the house and with the protected woodland of Saint-Paul de Vence that surrounds the property.
Our landscape design studio a concept for a natural garden where the surrounding environment and the garden become one. The use of Mediterranean garrigue and woodland plants helped to establish this connection.
A large natural swimming pool was already in place. We redesigned its surroundings by creating a stepping-stone pathway and enhancing the waterfall with large ornamental rocks, giving the impression of a stream emerging from the forest and flowing into this natural cascade. We also rethought the layout of the outdoor spa area to create an intimate space sheltered from view.
To reinforce the atmosphere of a natural environment, we incorporated numerous ornamental rocks and built several stairways using large stone blocks, inspired by Provencal landscapes. It is the balance between mineral and plant elements that gives the feeling of living within a truly natural setting.
This nature-inspired garden offers a space of calm and tranquility, inviting quiet reflection.
