Nice – Cimiez

A family from Nice contacted our landscape design studio to completely rethink their outdoor living space. They wanted “to fully renovate the outdoor space and evoke a natural Mediterranean atmosphere.”

Having already begun plans for a swimming pool and the renovation of a garage into a pool house, we developed a design that would connect these different living areas to the house.

The concept for this garden was to create a space where multiple living areas could coexist harmoniously on a compact plot of less than 350 m². The garden underwent a full redesign, with only a magnificent olive tree preserved. This tree was used as a focal point, guiding the eye along the natural stone path that leads to the wooden terrace surrounding the pool.

A second terrace in natural stone was designed around the pool house for outdoor dining in the shade of a pepper tree. A small lawn was added to provide a comfortable play area for their young daughter. To enjoy homegrown organic vegetables and allow their daughter to get her hands in the soil, a raised wooden vegetable garden completes the layout.

In agreement with the clients, we aimed to create a natural, wild atmosphere, bringing spontaneity to the garden through light, delicate plants such as grasses, yarrow, and Verbenas bonariensis.

This garden has transformed the property into a natural, restorative living environment for
the family, right in the heart of Nice.
