Our landscape design studio was commissioned to create a Mediterranean garden for this Provençal villa in Valbonne on the French Riviera. The project focused primarily on landscaping the areas around the pool and the main south-facing terrace. The owners wanted a countryside-style garden in Provençal colors, along with a small vegetable garden to grow a few vegetables.
To integrate the pool into a natural setting, we planted vegetation along its edges. A mix of lavender, cistus, teucrium, and thyme borders the pool, filling the air with Provençal scents when in bloom. The spontaneous growth of Erigeron karvinskianus and California poppies creates the relaxed, countryside atmosphere the owners were looking for. and California poppies adds the relaxed, rustic countryside atmosphere that the owners desired.
